Vegetarians are minor stream group in Japan.
It is hard for a vegetarian to find vegetarian
restaurants in Japan (you cannot deny that
it is really hard to refuse the seduction of tasty
seafood in such an island country for a non-vegetarian).
Of course, Indian restaurants are one of the choices;
but besides Indian ones, you just cannot
imagine why there are such few vegetarian
restaurants in a developped country like
Japan.
A friend from Holand and some friends
from Indians used to tell me
"it is difficult for general Japanese to understand
why people want to be vegetarians; but it is hard for
us to understand why the Japanese who have lots
of chances to contact the vegetarians from Indians or
from other countries still cannot realize what vegetarians
think and why vegetarians do not want to eat meat,
garlics, onions. leeks, and seafood...."
Maybe we should not blame Japanese, who
do not understand the meaning of being
vegetarians.
Maybe vegetarians in Japan are a group of
too silent people,
who silently eat vegetarian food at home,
who bring their own lunch boxes
to a Japanese barbecue party,
who silently feel sorry that no Japanese friends
really want to know the reasons why vegetarians
give up tasty meat and seafood.
也許, 在日本的素食者太沉默;
默默地在家吃素食;
Party,
怕朋友誤解了素食的美意;
Why a vegetarian want to be a vegetarian??
I think I should say something in my next new
post.....because Japanese people have the
right to know the reasons....
